Picknicking

Make a meal of it.

Feast in the open air. Watch butterflies fluttering from coneflower to coneflower. Each of our parks has its own designated picnic areas located at limestone gorges, lakeside overlooks, or sunlit hillsides. No matter what type of picnic you’re planning, we’ve got the spot for you.

Plan Your Perfect Day.

The Parklands offers several picnic locations throughout each park with tables, stone benches, shaded pavilions, and more. Most picnic areas are free and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Since these are popular amenities, the best way to guarantee a space for your event is to reserve one of our rentable picnic shelters. Groups with over 50 participants wishing to use The Parklands for activities in unreserved areas must submit a group use permit application. The Parklands also offers indoor spaces to accommodate your event.
