What’s Happening in The “Southern” Parks

I’m spending a lot of time lately monitoring construction of the two “southern” parks – what will be Broad Run Park and Turkey Run Park.  The first word that comes to mind is MUD!  (OK – we’re all more than ready to see the sun again in Louisville).

Actually, I’m amazed by the EXPANSE of park land down there.  Don’t get me wrong – I love the design of Beckley Creek Park.  But comparing it to the two parks in the south is like comparing a hallway to the great room of a ski lodge.  This is the area that people are going to go to get some solitude with long walks in the forest and big views from overlooks.  It’s really going to be spectacular!

Click here to view more photos of construction. We update the album often.

And please remember, the southern parks are under construction 7 days a week. Please stay safe and help us avoid construction delays by not trespassing in the area. We know you’re curious, and we’ll do our best to offer updates and construction tours when appropriate. It’ll be worth the wait!

Turkey Run and Broad Run Parks are slated to open to the public in late 2015.
