The Parklands strategic plan – Where are we going?

Here at 21st Century Parks we have a fantastic Board of Directors and they are really working hard to make sure the community’s need for great public parklands is being addressed effectively and efficiently.  These twelve volunteers are tasked with a great responsibility: To design, build and operate one of the largest new public parks systems in the nation, just for you. They are all great leaders and share with the organization many ideas, lessons learned, passions and most importantly their vision for the future of The Parklands. Here are some of their words of wisdom:

“We need a clear idea and absolute dedication.”

“Our brand is our most sacred asset.”

“Everyone see’s something different in the park.”

“If it doesn’t progress the mission, don’t take on the task.”

“We need to identify ways to generate revenue early on in the project.”

“It takes ultimate focus on the mission.”

“Quickly recognize both good and poor team member contributions.”

“A gift to the organization is a vote of confidence in the team and the mission.”

These are just some of the bits of wisdom the board has imparted along our journey to build The Parklands of Floyds Fork. Their vision is that the parks are well-used and well-loved. In our most recent planning session the Board challenged the Parklands team to 1) meet the 2015 deadline for the park completion, 2) expand our fundraising efforts to engage over 10,000 members annually by 2017, 3) expand awareness of the new Parklands brand and its mission, and 4) operate the park in a safe, clean, fun and beautiful manner to over 1,000,000 visitors annually.

Without our founder’s vision for this project and the Board’s oversight, this project would not have become a reality and you and I would not have this great new park system in which to visit, play and explore. Our leaders also know that these parks cannot succeed in isolation. Only by the support of the the whole community can we ensure the success of The Parklands of Floyds Fork. Our staff and Board welcome feedback from you. We summarize all of the comment cards received along with many other bits of information in a monthly summary to share with the team and the board.  If you have any suggestions for the Board or wish to send them a simple thank you, please let us know and we will pass along your thoughts. As we continue to grow and shape this new community asset, we hope to see you outside enjoying The Parklands soon!
