Louisville, Ky. (February 12, 2021) — The Parklands of Floyds Fork is temporarily closed to visitors until further notice due to icy conditions. The closure includes all four parks within The Parklands system—Beckley Creek, Pope Lick, Turkey Run and Broad Run—as well as The Strand.

This week’s winter storm left behind a layer of ice covering park roads, parking lots and trails. Park staff have spent the last two days clearing snow and ice, but a significant amount of ice remains.

“Our first commitment is to safety, so we are closing The Parklands until the ice has been removed or melted,” said David Morgan, President of The Parklands of Floyds Fork. “We pride ourselves on reopening our amenities as swiftly as possible following weather events, but we will only reopen when it is safe for our visitors and staff.”

To view the latest updates on this closure, please visit www.theparklands.org. For more information on The Parklands of Floyds Fork, please contact Anna Rosales-Crone at 502-815-0267 or acrone@21cparks.org.
