Timing of the 5K coincides with The Parklands Membership Drive, June 6-12. Funds raised from both the race and drive go directly to The Parklands Fund, the annual campaign that raises money to support maintenance and operations of The Parklands of Floyds Fork.

MEMBERS MAKE IT HAPPEN

As a visitor-supported public park, The Parklands does not receive tax dollars for annual operations and relies on community support to continue providing free access to its nearly 4,000 acres, 365 days a year. Members are the ones who make it all possible:

  • 3,825,891 park visits in 2020
  • 78,255 trees planted since opening first amenity
  • 17,295 Virtual Classroom participants in 2020
  • 60 acres treated for invasive species in 2020 so native plant species can thrive
  • 80 miles of trails for hiking, biking and paddling, including:
  • 22 miles of water trail with 7 paddling access points
  • 19 connected miles of the paved, fully-accessible Louisville Loop
  • 34 public restrooms maintained to a high standard
  • Nearly 4,000 acres permanently preserved

The Parklands experienced a 23% increase in visitation in 2020 compared to 2019 as people sought safe, outdoor spaces to recreate, relax and recharge. The record use shows no sign of slowing down. Parklands’ traffic counters show 2021 visitation at 1,353,318 through May 31.

Participate in The Parklands 5K Walk & Run, or donate any amount, and immediately become a Parklands Member and supporter of this well-used and well-loved community asset. In addition to helping maintain The Parklands for current and future generations, Parklands Members receive access to exclusive events, program discounts and Parklands’ swag.

The Parklands is debuting two perks during the 2021 Membership Drive. The first is a “Trees of The Parklands” guide featuring beautiful illustrations by Parklands’ Education Specialist Erin Kinnetz. The guide is available to supporters who give at the Parklands Partner level and above. Supporters who give at the Parklands Preserver level and above receive a unique, custom-made 8.5” x 11” print featuring a Chinkapin Oak, created by Graphic Designer Cassie Bays.
