Suit & Tie: Introducing our 2016 Summer Bulldog Intern Adam Chase
Walnut oxfords – Check.
White button-up – Check.
Cornflower necktie – Check.
No, this isn’t a groom’s checklist for a wedding at Hockensmith Barn. It’s our Summer Yale Bulldog Intern’s uniform of choice as he produces our new YouTube series—An Intern’s Guide to Respecting The Parklands.
With the Ohio River Valley’s summer heat and humidity at full force, trekking around The Parklands in a suit and tie is not an easy task. But it’s all in the name of comedy.
A Winston-Salem, NC, native and rising sophomore at Yale University, Adam Chase is participating in Bulldogs in the Bluegrass, the Louisville branch of Yale’s Bulldogs Across America program. He brings with him a plethora of interests, including Economics, Mechanical Engineering, Government and Political Science. In his free time, he explores his passions through the Yale Mock Trial Association, Yale Political Union, Yale Club Running Team and as a Stand-up Comedian with The Cucumber—a branch of Yale’s humor magazine.
Half-way through his two-month term, Adam has completed several projects, supported community outreach and conducted research to benefit 21st Century Parks. But with a strong comedic performance background, we would have been crazy to not put his talent to good use.
With a dash of humor, we hope Adam’s series will help educate both new and veteran park users on how they can best support our efforts to keep our fully opened park system (minus 2 miles of Loop!) clean, safe and beautiful for all.
So, on your next visit to The Parklands, if you happen to see a sharply dressed young gentleman speaking to inanimate objects or to himself, don’t worry. It’s just Adam helping to preserve our natural areas one laugh at a time.
