Staff Spotlight: Alyssa Rosen
What is your role?
As an Event Coordinator, I help manage facility use of event venues and all reservable pavilions throughout The Parklands.
How does your team help keep The Parklands fun?
The Facilities Team keeps The Parklands fun by helping groups gather around the park to celebrate many different occasions. From weddings, to family reunions, to corporate events and more, we are constantly coordinating a variety of events at any given time. We also oversee the large-scale partner events happening around the park such as Friday at Floyds and races and marathons. All of these events bring people, and the community, together to enjoy one another’s company.
What are you most proud of in your work?
I am proud that our Team is able to help visitors and clients create memories that will last a lifetime. Nothing compares to the look on a groom’s face when he sees his bride walking down the aisle for the first time, or the gracious thank you that we receive from families and corporations after they have a successful event at one of our outdoor pavilions. I am also incredibly proud when we have repeat clients, as I know that they want to come back because they had such a great time at their previous event here at The Parklands.
What inspires you to come to work every day?
I am inspired to come to work every day because not only do I love what I do, but I love the organization I work for and everything it stands for. I am always proud to tell people that I work for The Parklands and love that, when I do, almost everyone responds by telling me how much they love our parks.
Which trail would you recommend to visitors and why?
It is not a trail, but I would absolutely recommend for visitors to check out the Louisville Loop, especially the access point in Broad Run Park by the Woodland Pavilion and Woodland Garden. The Woodland Garden is not completed yet and is an active construction zone, but it is still nice to glance over and look at the progress while safely on the Louisville Loop. I love that Broad Run Park is always full of park visitors and families enjoying the weather and the outdoors; it is a wonderful, high-energy area.
Which “thing to do” at The Parklands is your favorite and why?
My favorite thing to do is host an event! We love when individuals and groups reach out to us through our “Host an Event” section on the website and it allows us to help them plan a special celebration or get-together.
In your opinion, what makes The Parklands worthy of support?
The Parklands is worthy of support because our parks bring so much joy to so many people. Park visitors are able to enjoy the outdoors either by themselves to clear their mind, or with friends to socialize and catch up. Parents and families are able to bring their children to play on the playground and spray ground completely free of charge. There is always something new to do or explore at The Parklands, and that is all due to the support that we receive.
How would you say “Thank You” to someone who donates to The Parklands, or who is thinking about donating?
Our park system would simply not be possible without our donors. Every day we have individuals, and groups, come to the park for the first time to look at our venues. It is so fun to see their faces and answer their questions about the park while telling them everything our park system has to offer. They are always, without fail, in awe when they see and hear about all we have here, free of charge, available to the public 365 days a year. This is all thanks to you, our donors.
