The Parklands

Safe, Clean, Fun, Beautiful

We are always thinking about you, our park visitor, and we have developed a simple model for delivering the highest quality park experience for you.  We believe that if a park is not safe, few will visit.  If it is not clean, most people will only visit once. Until those basic needs are met, it doesn’t matter how fun or beautiful the park is designed and operated. Thus our operating hierarchy at The Parklands:  Safe, Clean, Fun and Beautiful.

Safe –We study, we train for, and we design our amenities, then we educate users so that your experience in The Parklands is as safe as possible. We have great relationships with Metro Police, EMS, Fire and other safety partners.  Pete, our very own Park Ranger is on staff and he keeps us all posted on how to be “Park Smart.”

Clean – We pick up trash and clean more than 25 bathrooms daily. We remove any vandalism within 24 hours. The grass is neatly cut when park use is lowest to not disturb users. We clean the Louisville Loop weekly and inspect all trails and paths regularly, making sure they are a great experience.  Most importantly, our team is in the park when our visitors are in the park.  We don’t work 9-5, Monday thru Friday for two reasons; 1) we want to be available when you are in the park and 2) we believe our team presence makes the park a safer place.  If you see one of our uniformed team members, give them a smile or wave to show your appreciation. They are working hard for you.

Fun and Beautiful – We have found that each visitor comes to the park for a different reason.  We hopefully have designed the park to be fun and beautiful for all types of people who will visit The Parklands.  We have miles and miles of paths, an area for dogs off leash, playgrounds and big open meadows to just sit and reflect.  Our cosmic design team has interpreted our park site by highlighting the beauty of the natural splendor of our classic Kentucky landscape. The bridges are designed to look like leaping deer, the pavilions after eddies in the creek and the gardens and botanical areas are planted and cared for to be beautiful and ever-evolving for years to come.

We hope you enjoy your Parklands experience.  And if you do something fun or find a special beauty within, please share with us.  We love to hear from you.
