Parklands Members Receive a Special Discount on Fresh Produce from Ashbourne Farms
Less than four weeks until Derby! For most Louisvillians, that means Mint Julips, horses, and a fabulous weekend at Churchill Downs. For gardeners in the area, that means it is time to plant your gardens. For us here at Ashbourne Farms, it means it is time for our CSA season to start!
CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is a great way for families to get locally grown fresh fruit and veggies all summer long! Ashbourne’s CSA program is a 28 week program that lasts from the first week of May until the week before Thanksgiving. Parklands Members can sign up for the full 28 weeks, for bi weekly shares (14 weeks, members pick up every other week), or for one season at a time (spring, summer, or fall). Each week, members will be able to pick up their share from one of several locations in and around Louisville, including Pope Lick Park! Shares consist of 8-10 organically grown vegetables. Members can expect to receive goodies such as summer squash, tomatoes and salad mixes for most of the season. You will also receive items such as peanuts, popcorn, and artichokes. Every year, Ashbourne tries to find new and exciting things to grow, things that you will not find in most backyards and home gardens. If you are not sure how to use something in the kitchen, no worries! Every week, we send out new, fun recipes created by our very own chef! Your culinary creative juices will start to flow and soon you will be trying things you have never tried before!
Like The Parklands, Ashbourne is committed to conserving and protecting our beautiful land, resources, and wildlife for future generations to enjoy. We use sustainable farming practices that help to ensure healthy, compost rich soil, that will continue to produce incredible fruit and vegetables for years to come. We have officially applied to the KDA for our Organic certification, and are excited for the 2018 growing season!
