Our Outdoor Classroom experiences range all over the Parklands, but in-park field trips start at the PNC Achievement Center in Beckley Creek Park. From there, groups venture out to Floyds Fork, the Humana Grand Allee Wetlands, stone paths tessellated with fossils, and more.

Outdoor Classroom
Walk all over us.
Built around Next Generation Science Standards, our programs are designed to spark curiosity in the Kentucky landscape around us. With the Outdoor Classroom, our Parklands educators coordinate both in-classroom and outdoor learning experiences for young adventurers in grades Pre-K–12.
Field trips include an in-classroom lesson with hands-on activities, an outdoor activity, and time at our Playground and Sprayground. If your school qualifies as a Title 1 or equivalent program, scholarship funds may be available.
The cost of field trips is $8 per student. Use the Plan a Field Trip form for questions or to book a program.

Get on the beaten track.
Our park system is nearly five times as large as New York’s Central Park, so you may need some help finding your way around. Chart your course with our interactive map.
