The Winter StoryWalk®

Beckley Creek Park

The Parklands of Floyds Fork invites you to a StoryWalk®!  Enjoy reading a children’s book while walking along The Egg Lawn Signature Trail. Follow the signs placed around The Egg Lawn to read the entire story. Along the way learn about nature and complete suggested activities on the back of the signs! Different StoryWalk® will be put up four times this year and they will only be out for a limited time. Once open, families and individuals can drop in anytime from dawn to dusk to read the story at no charge! Signs will be up by noon on the start day of the event and will be taken down the day after the end date.

StoryWalk® is an innovative and delightful way for children and adults to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time. Laminated pages from a children’s book are attached to temporary signs, which are installed along an outdoor path. As you stroll down the trail, you’re directed to the next page in the story. On the back of the signs, you will find more information and activity prompts. StoryWalks® have been installed in 50 states and 13 countries. The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Storywalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.

Our Winter StoryWalk® book is “Over and Under the Snow” by Kate Messner. Story Summary: Over the snow, the world is hushed and white. But under the snow is a secret world of squirrels and snowshoe hares, bears and bullfrogs, and many other animals who live through the winter, safe and warm. “Over and Under the Snow” takes readers on a cross country ski trip through the winter woods to discover the secret world of animals living under the snow.
