Spend the day with us celebrating fins, fun, and freshwater friends! Enjoy fishing demos, get an up-close look at what lives in our streams, and try some new fishy flavors. Practice your fishing skills or learn something new at our rod and reel and net fishing stations by the creek. 

Junior Explorer is a free family-friendly event at The Parklands that is open to all ages and focuses on a special nature topic each time. Join the Parklands’ education team to explore our natural world with themed activities, games, hikes, crafts, and more!

Event Schedule:

• 10:45am – Clownfish Carnival: Have some fun at our Clownfish Carnival! Play your favorite classic carnival games with a fishy twist outside the PNC Achievement Center.
• Ranger-Guided Hikes on the Sycamore Trail: Join a Ranger for a short hike to the creek and explore hands-on fishing stations, including rod-and-reel and net techniques! Meet outside the PNC Achievement Center at the scheduled hike time.
  • Hike Times: 11:00am, 12:00pm, & 1:00pm
• 11:45am – Fish Bingo: Play a round of fish-themed bingo! Use your luck to earn some fishy prizes. Meet inside the PNC Achievement Center at the East Classroom.
• 12:45pm – Fishy Flavors Bistro: You never know until you try! Sample a variety of fish-inspired treats—taste something new like anchovies or sardines, or enjoy familiar favorites like Goldfish crackers and Swedish Fish candy in the East Classroom inside the PNC Achievement Center.

This event is FREE and open to everyone, with activities geared toward pre-k and elementary-aged kids. No registration is required.
