Earth Day Fest!

Broad Run Park

Celebrate Earth Day with us on Friday, April 17th, from 5–9 PM at Earth Day Fest! Enjoy an evening filled with free tree giveaways, live music, food and beer, trivia, community partner booths, local vendors, and more. 

Earth Day is officially celebrated on April 22nd each year to raise awareness and support for environmental protection – but The Parklands is getting the party started early! Join us for live music and nature trivia, pick up a free tree while supplies last, and enjoy live acoustic performances in the Woodland Garden. 

Earth Day Fest will take place at the Ogle Foundation Woodland Pavilion and the Moss Gibbs Woodland Garden in Broad Run Park. This event is free and family-friendly! Please no outside drinks or coolers.

Schedule of events: 

Vendor booths, food trucks, West Sixth Brewing, field games, and community partner tables will be set up to browse throughout the event. 

5:00: Free Tree Giveaway – Receive a free native tree while supplies last! Chat with Louisville Metro office of Urban Forestry’s certified arborists to get the best recommendations on trees that fit your space. 

*One tree per household limit. Trees are being donated by the Louisville Metro office of Urban Forestry; they ask that, since the funds come from Jefferson County taxpayers, the trees go to residents in Jefferson County. Please be prepared to show a valid driver’s license with an address listed within the county. 

 5:00 – 7:00: Woodland Garden Music Walk – Enjoy a self-guided walk through the Moss Gibbs Woodland Garden. As the sun goes down, the garden comes alive with various live acoustic performances stationed throughout the walkways and rooms of the garden. Stay tuned for a full list of Woodland Garden Musicians coming soon!  

*Please note that while dogs are welcome at Earth Day Fest, they will not be allowed in the Woodland Garden portion of the event.  

6:30 – 7:00: Parklands Trivia Round – A short round of trivia will be played under the Woodland Pavilion! To participate, please pick up a trivia paper at The Parklands Welcome Table at the entrance or from the trivia hosts at the start of each round, then join us under the Woodland Pavilion to hear the questions and test your nature knowledge! 

6:30-9:00: Live Music under The Woodland Pavilion – Enjoy live music under the Woodland Pavilion, bring a chair to enjoy the band from the lawn. During breaks in the music, short rounds of nature trivia will be played, and prizes will be awarded after each round! 

8:30-9:00: Parklands Trivia Round – A short round of trivia will be played under the Woodland Pavilion! To participate, please pick up a trivia paper at The Parklands Welcome Table at the entrance or from the trivia hosts at the start of each round, then join us under the Woodland Pavilion to hear the questions and test your nature knowledge!
