Donor Spotlight: JPMorgan Chase & Co.

JPMorgan Chase & Co. has been an amazing supporter of The Parklands through our Field & Fork event- our largest fundraiser each year. The Parklands relies on donations, not tax dollars, for the annual operations of nearly 4,000 acres for hiking, biking, paddling and more.

Field & Fork, presented by JPMorgan Chase, is a celebration of support for this unique model of park operation: a donor-supported public park. Now in our fifth year, JPMorgan Chase was once again our presenting sponsor of this beautiful event authentic to The Parklands mission.

The event took place in Turkey Run Park on Saturday, September 9, 2017. The beautiful weather and generous crowd allowed for a record-breaking year- 525 guests and net funds raised for The Parklands of nearly $400,000!

We caught up with Paul Costel, Region Manager at JPMorgan Chase to talk about the excitement surrounding the event, and why Chase chooses to support The Parklands through this event:

Q: At Chase, you are involved in many local community projects and initiatives. What are your funding priorities/focus areas for community involvement in Chase markets and why have you chosen to focus on them?

A: JPMorgan Chase works with community partners to create pathways to opportunity by supporting workforce development, improving consumer financial health, growing small businesses and community development in the regions where we do business.

Q: What are your hopes for the impact of your support on the Louisville community?

A: Together with our community, business, civic and government partners, we all are working toward continuing to enrich Louisville and the lives of its citizens.  Through initiatives that focus on workforce readiness, community and business development, we strive to provide new opportunities for success for Louisville business owners and consumers.

Q: Why do you think it is important to support The Parklands, a donor-supported park?

A: Having this park in an urban environment is a special treasure for all of Louisville.  The Parklands is beautiful; a great place for family, business or community gatherings that takes us out of our hectic activities and brings us closer to nature and the ones that are important to us. We support The Parklands because it contributes to the vibrancy of our community and we all benefit from that.

Q: This is your fifth year as presenting sponsor of Field & Fork. Tell us a little about your commitment to supporting The Parklands through this event:

A: We are happy to support Field & Fork because it benefits The Parklands, which ultimately benefits all of us, and it is a really fun and unique event.

From 21st Century Parks, beneficiary of this sponsorship:

In its fifth year, Field & Fork has become one of Louisville’s premier events. This unique fundraiser benefits The Parklands of Floyds Fork, one of the largest and most ambitious urban parks in the nation operated by a nonprofit. The Parklands, a donor-supported public park made up of nearly 4,000 acres of parkland, does not receive tax dollars to support annual operations.

Field & Fork is a great way to enjoy a beautiful evening in The Parklands in celebration of philanthropy, food, and music in an authentic Kentucky fashion- all in support of this unique new model for park operation.

Field & Fork 2017 presented by JPMorgan Chase & Co. was held on Saturday, September 9 in Turkey Run Park. The evening began with a social cocktail reception in the Barn followed by a three-course meal and then fire pits, stargazing and dancing to close out the evening. 525 guests attended this event, which has been sold out since the end of July.

Proceeds from the event support The Parklands annual fund, which raises more than $2 million annually to support many aspects of park operation and programming. The Parklands is open 365 days a year, dawn to dusk, and offers each of its expected 3 million annual visitors a world-class experience without charging an entry fee. Through ticket and sponsorship sales, the live auction and appeal at this event, The Parklands raised nearly $400,000 from Field & Fork, all of which will support annual operations, from park maintenance and programming to planting trees and running educational programming.

The presenting sponsorship is the most impactful way to ensure this event is a success!

THANK YOU JPMorgan Chase & Co.
