We never need an excuse to thank our volunteers on a public platform. But it’s National Volunteer Week, which gives us an extra reason to express our gratitude to the kind souls who so freely give their time to make The Parklands safe, clean, fun, and beautiful for our visitors.
On any given day in any of our four parks, you’re likely to cross paths with a volunteer beautifying our garden beds, hiking or biking as an Ambassador, wading in the creek with our summer camp participants, or chatting with visitors in the welcome center.
With nearly 4,000 acres to manage, you can imagine how volunteers would play a vital role in maintaining our beloved Parklands. Last year alone, volunteers donated 11,500 hours of their time doing everything from planting trees and weeding to data entry and event planning. In addition to our ongoing volunteer opportunities, we hosted 23 corporate, school, and scout groups for one-time projects in the park just last year. This is a great team-building opportunity, not to mention the added benefits of exercise (mulching is a workout!) and spending time outdoors.
To each and every one of our volunteers, THANK YOU for all you do to make The Parklands a special place. We could not do it alll without you!
