Bluebird Box Build

Beckley Creek Park

Returning Bluebirds are a welcome sight of early spring. However, bluebird nesting habitat is declining throughout the United States. Bluebirds are cavity nesters meaning they take advantage of already existing holes in trees. As more forest is cleared for development, Bluebirds are in need of more nesting habitat to keep populations healthy.

To assist Bluebirds and other cavity nesters, naturalists and ornithologists recommend building bluebird boxes to erect in your yard. Join Parklands Education staff and Bluebird hobbyist Philip Tamplin on Saturday December 14 at 10:00am to build your own Bluebird box! All supplies and tools for building the box will be provided. Recommendations on where to place your box and how to tend it will also be provided.

Cost:

Parklands Members $10

Non-Members $20
