Education

The core purpose of the education program at The Parklands of Floyds Fork is to teach science and natural history education through dynamic experiences in the field that stimulate curiosity, critical thinking and discovery for children, adults and families. We envision a future in which all people view themselves as life-long learners, and share a connection to and appreciation of the natural world, their community and each other. Core values include:

  • Great teachers are the key to great education.
  • Hands-on learning promotes deeper understanding for children and adults.
  • All children should grow up with a knowledge of their local natural history.
  • A greater understanding of the natural world promotes stewardship of its resources.
  • Being outdoors promotes learning and improved physical and mental well being.
  • Enhanced scientific literacy will contribute to an improvement in regional educational achievement.

Upcoming Programming

We look forward to bringing schoolchildren, families and adults from across the region to The Parklands for rich, hands-on educational experiences.

The first program will be offered in partnership with the Louisville Science Center for preschool children and their families.
